Nike, Wieden + Kennedy São Paulo and CBF celebrate 100 years of the first Brazil’s win at Copa America

23.04.2019

Players were transformed into the old collectible cards in the launch of new apparel collection campaign

To launch the new collection of the Brazilian National Team apparel, inspired on the 100th anniversary of the first Copa America win, Wieden + Kennedy São Paulo, Nike and CBF transformed Brazilian players Neymar, Philippe Coutinho, Arthur, Cassemiro and Marquinhos into retro cards with style used in the old collectibles of various sports.

The campaign rescues the concept “The Brazilian Team”, as the National Team was called in 1919.

Footballers illustrations valuing retro aesthetics and a process of chalcography, imprinted on a metal matrix, faithfully rescued every detail present in historical cards. All graphic elements (typography, icons and numbers) were also produced using the same process, handmade in partnership with Black Mother Atelier Studio.

In this first phase, the cards will be published by the players in their official channels, in addition to those of Nike and CBF.

The campaign will also feature visual merchandising at some Nike Store stores and other executions throughout the Copa América  period.

At nike.com/blogspot.com fans will be able to access the manifesto, all cards and the full story behind that great launch.
